I've been going to Osaka for years. I prefer it to the more expensive and oft mentioned, Kobe. The portions are plenty unless you have a body mass index over 30. Then skip this place and head to Golden Corral where you can fill your gut til you heave. The lunch special is a good value. All meals come with soup and salad. The sushi is always fresh and very reasonably priced. Ask Steve to make you something special and he'll glady whip it up. It's a good value and I always order extra noodles and white sauce to enhance the experience.

The sushi was good. That's about it! It was extremely hot. The hibachi was NOT GOOD! He over cooked the shrimp and scallops. The 'fried rice' was basically white rice with butter and soy sauce. The 'noodles' were gross and soggy. It was served with a yucky 'thousand island' sauce.....What? Since when does Japanese cuisine have TI sauce? The waitresses had major attitude. It was all around a mediocre experience at best. I should have known when we pulled up and it was in a strip mall.... ewwww.

I use to go here years ago and the visit last night was terrible. When we walked in at 7 on a Friday night and there was not one person in the restaurant, that should have been our first sign. Then I asked what kind of wine they had and she said not sure it starts with a "v". Ok so food was ok but the restaurant is dirty. It had that smell to it like it was dirty. We will not be returning. When we opened my sons cup with a lid there was all of this black stuff inside. So gross

My family and I love hibachi. This place was not good. The soup was very salty and the chef was not entertaining. The yum yum sauce was not yummy.

Lunch is still a bargain, but be "warned", either the show is not as elaborate at lunch, or the Osaka staff aren't up to the same standard as Amura or Kobe. But food was well prepared and tasted fresh. Don't see how they can make much money off the lunch crowd, especially without the booze dough for 90% of them. I had the filet mignon, which I think was $10, while my guest had the steak and shrimp, with added mushrooms. My filet was about 4 oz., which I consider to be a good portion for that price even for lunch. Extra bonus was running into a SS kid from Northland having lunch with his parents on a Friday afternoon!

I've been going to this place for 10 years now and it's been consistently good for all 10 years. The staff could be a little more pleasant at times, I'll agree with other posters. But the food is decent and my favorite part is their white sauce. I hate Kobe's white sauce but I love Osaka's. I will say though, that if it wasn't for the white sauce, I'd probably never eat there, not sure the food would stand up on its own.

We have been there several times and always considered this a poor man's Kobe. All are visits have been ok, but nothing special. Our last visit was special...in a bad way. One member of our party had a dead bug in their salad! Yuck! When she brought it to the server's attention they offered her a 10% discount. Kind of figured it was a bit of a joke to be honest. We did have quite a few laughs at the bug's expense, but just kind of disgusted us overall.

It was good as always but I do have to say, they have reduced their portion sizes. It was still enough to eat though :o)

Osaka is like a poor-man's Kobe, which suits me just fine cause I'm poor! They have a great lunch special- for around $8, you get the teppan flamed sirloin steak/chicken, veggies, noodles, rice, soup and salad. Damn fine deal. The chef will preform a bit and everyone will enjoy themselves. Only reasons why this is not a 4 star review is because: #1) It's too damned hot in here! Open flames, high heat grills-TURN THE A/C UP, PLEASE. #2) I have to beg for water refills. In fact, I always order iced tea AND ice water so I don't have to ask the servers too often for a refill (I'm a fish). GIVE ME A DAMN DRINK, I'M THIRSTY! All that aside, I really do enjoy the food and run-downness of it all. Oh, and that white sauce that accompanies your meal is like liquid crack-yea, that addictive.

Japanese cuisine is by far one of my favorites because it includes both hibachi (or teppan) and sushi...what's not to love?! So when I stumbled upon Osaka Japanese Steak House thanks to some friends I fell in love with it after eating the delicious food. This restaurant is split into two parts, sushi and hibachi...you sit based on what you want to eat. I usually opt to sit on the hibachi side because I can still order sushi and have the best of both worlds. For the hibachi, the chicken and salmon are way to go. Both are cooked just right and so tasty with all of the soy sauce, butter and seasonings that are blasted on them. The chefs are entertaining with their broken English and unique tricks...I love it when they do the onion volcano, that just never gets old. For sushi, the rainbow roll is all I order and it's soooo good! The staff are so sweet and helpful. I've never had a problem here. The decor is typical of Asian inspired restaurant, with a lot of black, white and red throughout as well as floral designs and dim lighting. Prices are not too bad, but not cheap. However, this place is the cheapest I've been to when it comes to Japanese Steak Houses because it's a local, family owned establishment and not corporate like the others are. Overall, this is a good place to go on a date, for a birthday or special occasion, or simply to hang out with your friends.

It's an ok place to go for a hibachi. The dinner special is ~$20, and you can definitely fill up with the amount of food they give you! The taste is what you'd expect, but they do have a tendency to put in too much butter and soy sauce during the cooking process.

Tried lunch there once because its close to the office. The meat stinks! Literally! Terrible service- they throw plates at you. One server even tried to flirt with me when I told him the meat is not fresh.I am sorry to leave bad reviews but this place is the worst restaurant I have ever been to, the food is not even hygiene!!!

I agree with this being a poor-man's Kobe. I went recently for lunch and was pleased with their prices, quality and quantity. I paid around $8 for chicken/steak combo that came with veggies, rice, noodles, soup and salad. The only thing that wasn't good was the soup. The broth was fine, but they put a bunch of those crunchy chinese noodles in it. It was pretty unedible for me. Everything else was great, down to my favorite while sauce for dipping. I've had sushi here once before, but won't again. Stick with the teppan cooking and you'll get a bargain with decent food.
